Qatar Red Crescent delivers lifesaving food aid to thousands during Ramadan 2024

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has expanded its humanitarian efforts during Ramadan 2024, reaching vulnerable communities across multiple countries. From Gaza to Albania, the organisation has delivered food parcels, meals, and essential aid to thousands in need.

In Gaza, QRCS distributed 17,833 food parcels to displaced families at a cost of USD 1,850,000. The effort aimed to support those affected by ongoing conflict and displacement.

Meanwhile, in Somalia's Northeast State, 1,951 food parcels were provided to 10,806 beneficiaries, including patients with respiratory illnesses and people with disabilities. The project, costing USD 184,931, targeted those most in need of assistance.

QRCS also partnered with the Afghan Red Crescent Society to deliver 764 food parcels in Paktika and Zabul Provinces. An additional 400 parcels are planned for distribution in the coming weeks.

In Tanzania, the organisation worked with the Tanzania Red Cross Society to distribute food parcels to 1,176 individuals across five districts. Similarly, in Chad, 1,280 people received Ramadan food parcels through the Organisation Medicale Tchadienne and the Red Cross of Chad.

Closer to home, QRCS continued its On-the-go Ramadan Iftar initiative at Katara Cultural Village in Qatar. The programme served 350 meals daily, totaling 10,150 meals throughout Ramadan 1447 AH.

Beyond these efforts, QRCS supported humanitarian Iftar projects in 82 countries worldwide as part of its 2024 Ramadan campaign. Plans are also underway to distribute 500 food parcels to 2,000 vulnerable people in Albania through the Albanian Red Cross.

The QRCS Ramadan campaign has delivered food aid to tens of thousands across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. With ongoing distributions and partnerships, the organisation continues to address urgent needs in conflict zones and underserved regions.
