Robert Carradine dies at 71 after long battle with mental illness
Actor Robert Carradine has died at the age of 71. His death occurred weeks after he was found unresponsive in a psychiatric hospital. He had been receiving treatment for mental health issues at the time. Carradine checked himself into a psychiatric facility weeks before his death. An employee later discovered him unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. He was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2009, following the death of his brother David.
The actor had struggled with the condition for about 20 years. At the time of his death, he was experiencing suicidal thoughts, severe depression, and anxiety. Doctors later determined his cause of death as sequelae of anoxic brain injury from hanging.
After his passing, Carradine was cremated, and his ashes were scattered at sea. He is survived by his daughter, actress Ever Carradine, born in 1974 to actress Susan Snyder. Carradine’s death followed a long battle with mental health challenges. His final weeks were marked by hospitalisation and declining health. The official cause of death confirmed the severity of his condition.
