Carradine came from a well-known acting family, the son of legendary actor John Carradine. His half-brothers and brothers—David, Keith, Bruce, and Christopher—were also actors. David, who starred in Kill Bill and Dexter, died in 2009.

Beyond his comedic turn as Lewis Skolnick in the Revenge of the Nerds films, Carradine appeared in Mean Streets and Django Unchained. He also played Sam McGuire, the father of Hilary Duff's character in Disney's Lizzie McGuire series and movie.

After his death, Duff paid tribute to Carradine on Instagram. His family released a statement acknowledging his battle with bipolar disorder, a condition he faced for many years.

Carradine is survived by his children and his niece, actress Martha Plimpton.
