The first All-Russian Nursing Forum, Prevention in Action: Uniting Efforts, took place on June 4 at Sverdlovsk Regional Medical College. Organised by the Russian Society for the Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, the event brought together nearly 300 healthcare delegates from 20 regions across Russia and Kazakhstan. Key discussions focused on improving public health and strengthening the role of mid-level medical staff. Deputy Governor and Health Minister Tatiana Savinova officially opened the forum. She highlighted the region’s commitment to preventive healthcare, including the Healthy Longevity Medicine initiative, which aims to extend and improve quality of life for residents.
During the event, best practices for preserving public health were shared, aligning with the recent #HealthyTogether telethon. Experts stressed the importance of mid-level medical professionals in combating non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Sverdlovsk Region currently employs 38,000 such specialists—one of the largest workforces of its kind in Russia.
The forum also underscored the region’s investment in medical education. Sverdlovsk Regional Medical College, hosted on Ural Federal University’s campus, enrols 14,600 students, with 4,000 new specialists set to graduate in 2026. Governor Denis Pasler has further allocated 500 million rubles to modernise the college’s infrastructure by 2026. The forum reinforced the need for collaboration in preventive healthcare and the vital role of nursing staff. With ongoing investments in education and infrastructure, Sverdlovsk Region continues to expand its medical workforce. The initiatives discussed aim to enhance long-term health outcomes for residents across the region.
