Russia's New United in Faith Program Nurtures Young Orthodox Leaders

A new educational initiative called United in Faith has launched in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. The programme aims to strengthen respect for the country's spiritual heritage among young adults. It will run from February to July 2026, targeting participants with an average age of 35.

The course is built around three core modules, plus a cross-cutting Bible study section led by clergy. Topics cover spiritual and moral growth, family values, and collaborative project work. Activities include themed seminars, workshops, team exercises, lectures, and volunteer trips.

Participants who develop the strongest grant-funded projects will earn a place at the My Joy interregional Orthodox youth forum in Diveyevo. The top 100 graduates will also receive diplomas from the Kazan Orthodox University of St. John the Baptist. Among this year's attendees is Andrei Smirny, a previous winner of the Heroes of the Nizhny Novgorod Region award.

The long-term aim is to create a lasting network of young people dedicated to Orthodox Christian principles.

The programme's organisers hope to establish a committed community rooted in traditional values. Successful participants will gain recognition through diplomas and a chance to attend a major youth forum. Further details on similar initiatives in other regions remain unclear.
