Santa Fe Animal Welfare Group Wins $150K to Fight Pet Overpopulation

A Santa Fe-based animal welfare group has received a major funding boost to tackle pet overpopulation. PetSmart Charities awarded S.A.V.E Rescue / Fix ur Pet a $150,000 grant to expand its low-cost spay and neuter services. The organisation has already helped thousands of pets since 2020. S.A.V.E Rescue / Fix ur Pet runs a clinic that provides affordable spay and neuter procedures. Since 2020, the team has altered over 24,000 dogs and cats. Their services extend beyond Santa Fe, welcoming residents from nearby counties without restrictions.

The new grant will fund community outreach programmes and increase the number of surgeries performed. The goal is clear: reduce the number of stray and shelter animals in Texas. Alongside spay and neuter operations, the clinic also offers other wellness services at low prices. PetSmart Charities’ support comes as part of a broader effort to curb pet overpopulation. The organisation’s mission aligns with S.A.V.E Rescue’s focus on accessibility and affordability. By removing cost barriers, more pet owners can access essential care.

The $150,000 grant will allow S.A.V.E Rescue / Fix ur Pet to serve even more animals in need. With expanded outreach and additional surgeries, fewer dogs and cats are expected to end up on the streets or in shelters. The funding reinforces the clinic’s role in improving animal welfare across Texas.
