Solingen Hospital updates traffic rules to ease construction congestion

Solingen – Solingen Municipal Hospital has introduced a new traffic routing system for access to its Central Emergency Department (CED). The change aims to make the approach to the emergency room more efficient and safer—especially for emergency services.

Emergency Vehicles to Use New Dedicated Route

From now on, emergency vehicles will use a new access route that leads directly to the Central Emergency Department via a designated left-turn lane just beyond the roundabout. This separates emergency traffic from construction-related vehicles around the new inpatient building site.

Reduced Congestion Through Revised Traffic Flow

The hospital has adjusted its traffic regulations in response to ongoing construction work on the premises. By diverting emergency vehicles away from construction traffic, the new system ensures that ambulances and response teams can reach the emergency department more quickly and without delays. Unrestricted access for emergency services remains guaranteed at all times.

Guidance for Patients and Visitors

Patients and visitors arriving by car may still pull up briefly at the main entrance to drop off or pick up passengers. A short stop is permitted to allow for convenient boarding and alighting.

For parking, the hospital asks that visitors use the multi-story car park or nearby parking facilities. This will help keep the areas around the main entrance and emergency department clear and easily navigable.

Follow New Signage

All road users are asked to pay attention to the updated signage on hospital grounds and follow the revised traffic routes. The new regulations took effect on April 27 and are designed to ensure safe and smooth operations on the hospital campus during the construction phase.
