Solingen's Alcohol Awareness Week 2026 Tackles Risks with Public Events

Alcohol Awareness Week 2026 will take place in Germany next June. The Solingen Addiction Network, a coalition of self-help groups and counselling services, will host local events to highlight the health and social risks of alcohol. The initiative aims to encourage open discussion and early support for those affected. The Solingen Addiction Network will set up an information booth at Hofgarten shopping centre during the week. It will be open to the public on Saturday, 13 June, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Visitors can learn about the dangers of alcohol and available support services.

On Wednesday, 17 June, the network will screen the film One for the Road at COBRA Solingen. The event starts at 7:00 PM and is open to anyone aged 12 or older. After the film, addiction experts will lead a discussion to explore its themes in more depth.

For years, the network has focused on education, prevention, and direct advice. Its efforts come as alcohol remains widely accepted and easily obtainable in Germany, often masking its potential harm. The events are designed to spark conversation and promote early intervention. By offering public information and discussions, the network hopes to reduce the stigma around alcohol-related issues. Both the booth and film screening provide accessible ways for people to seek guidance.
