St. Elisabeth Hospital reopens renovated therapy pool for community wellness

The therapy pool at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Meerbusch-Lank has officially reopened after a period of renovations. Funded by public donations and the hospital’s own resources, the facility now offers improved conditions for swimming courses and aquatic therapy. Built in 1995 to replace an older pool, the 12-metre-long facility features a water depth of 1.25 to 1.65 metres. Its 72 square metres of surface area provide a safe space for small-group classes and exercises. Technical upgrades in 2015 modernised the control systems and surge tanks, ensuring better reliability.

The swim school swim2grow has launched new courses for babies, children, and adults, alongside aqua fitness sessions. These classes cater to all age groups, including beginners and those with health limitations. Last year, the hospital received many inquiries about the pool, proving its value to the local community. Despite the reopening, the hospital still depends on donations to cover ongoing costs. Expenses such as water treatment and future maintenance require continued financial support.

The pool’s return brings back a vital resource for therapy and fitness in Meerbusch-Lank. With updated systems and expanded course offerings, it serves a wide range of users. However, the hospital will keep seeking public contributions to maintain operations in the long term.
