Starving 12-Year-Old Boy, Weighing 47 Pounds, Rescued in Nebraska Abuse Case

A severely malnourished 12-year-old boy was rushed to hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, last week. Weighing just 47 pounds, he was too weak to lift himself or speak, with a dangerously low body temperature of 80 degrees. Lincoln police were alerted to the case on January 12 after a family member raised concerns about the boy's condition. He had been admitted to Bryan Medical Center West Campus in critical health. Doctors noted his extreme agitation around his caregiver, with his heart rate spiking whenever she entered the room.
