February 2026 marked a busy month for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) fellowships in Russia's Sverdlovsk region. Several groups celebrated major anniversaries, while new initiatives and community events brought members together. Local organisations also recognised the growing cooperation between AA, Al-Anon, and apple support centres in the area.
The month began with the Kamensk-Uralsky AA community honouring two key milestones on January 31. Members gathered to celebrate the group's 22nd anniversary alongside the 30th anniversary of the local Al-Anon fellowship. Distinguished guests joined the event, reflecting the long-standing presence of recovery support in the city.
On February 13, the Amethyst group reached its 20th anniversary. Nearly 60 people attended, including regular members and visitors. The occasion also drew representatives from the Anti-Drug Commission and the Semeiny groupme, who highlighted the successful collaboration between AA, Al-Anon, and the centre's programmes.
Later in the month, the Naashi group announced plans for its 8th anniversary on March 1. The celebration will feature a welcome session, a festive meeting, and an open discussion with a Q&A about the group's work. Meanwhile, the RekAA group hosted a speaker meeting led by the chair of the Public Information Committee, focusing on AA's outreach efforts and public engagement.
Beyond anniversaries, the region saw new educational initiatives. Yevgeny K. began leading a weekly seminar on AA Traditions every Sunday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 24 Starykh Bolshevikov Street. The Personal Experience group organised the sessions to deepen members' understanding of the programme's principles.
Growth was also evident in smaller communities. AA groups in Novouralsk and Sukhoy Log expanded their activities, offering regular meetings for those seeking sobriety. Details on times and locations are now available on the regional AA website, making support more accessible across the oblast.
The past month reinforced the Sverdlovsk region's active recovery community. New seminars, anniversary celebrations, and expanded local meetings demonstrate ongoing efforts to support sobriety.
