Thuringia's 2026 Family Caregivers Week offers free support and expert advice
Thuringia is preparing for its annual 'Week for Family Caregivers', running from June 1 to 7, 2026. The event will offer free support, advice, and activities for the region’s estimated 300,000 unpaid carers. Organisers have planned lectures, consultations, and networking opportunities across the state. The week’s highlights include a dedicated action day in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district. On June 4, 2026, the assembly hall of the district administration office in Meiningen will host sessions from 9 AM to 4 PM. Visitors can attend talks on advance directives, out-of-hospital intensive care, assistive devices, and housing advice.
All lectures will be available as hybrid events, meaning participants can join either in person or online. Those wishing to attend virtually must register by May 29, 2026. The Care Support Center is also providing free consultations on all care-related topics for any group needing guidance. In addition to expert-led sessions, the event will showcase local support services, self-help resources, and peer exchange opportunities. Interested individuals can book appointments with the Care Support Center by phone or email. A full list of activities during the week is available on the official event website.
The initiative aims to connect Thuringia’s 300,000 family caregivers with practical resources and advice. Free lectures, consultations, and networking will run throughout the week, both online and in person. Registration for hybrid events closes on May 29, 2026.
