USV Acquires 79% Stake in Wellbeing Nutrition for ₹1,583 Crore

USV Pvt Ltd, one of India's top pharmaceutical firms, has bought a 79% stake in Wellbeing Nutrition, a fast-growing clean-label nutraceutical brand. The deal values the direct-to-consumer startup at Rs 1,583 crore. Company leaders describe the move as a strategic push into premium nutrition and preventive healthcare.

Founded in 1961, USV has long been a major player in India's pharmaceutical sector. It leads in oral anti-diabetic and cardiovascular prescriptions with brands like Glycomet and Ecosprin. The company also markets the German skincare brand Sebamed in India and reported FY25 revenue of Rs 5,200 crore.

Wellbeing Nutrition, known for science-backed products, has seen rapid growth—120% over the past two years. The brand expects to exceed Rs 450 crore in revenue by FY27. Founder Avnish Chhabria stated that the partnership with USV would speed up expansion while keeping the company's consumer-focused approach intact.

USV Managing Director Prashant Tewari called the acquisition a 'future-oriented expansion.' The deal aligns with the company's goal to grow aggressively in the premium consumer wellness market. India's nutraceutical sector, driven by higher health awareness and disposable incomes, has grown at 12-15% annually since 2021. Demand for immunity boosters, plant-based supplements, and personalized nutrition has fuelled this trend.

The acquisition marks USV's stronger entry into consumer wellness. Wellbeing Nutrition's rapid growth and established market position complement USV's pharmaceutical expertise. Together, the companies aim to capture a larger share of India's expanding preventive healthcare sector.
