Uttar Pradesh Launches Five New AYUSH Colleges to Boost Traditional Medicine Education

The Uttar Pradesh government is setting up five new Integrated AYUSH Colleges and Hospitals across the state. These institutions will focus on traditional medicine while also integrating modern health sciences. The move aims to improve access to medical education in remote areas and reduce the need for students to relocate to larger cities for training. The colleges will be built in Devipatan, Mirzapur, Meerut, Agra, and Basti divisions. Land for the projects has already been identified in Gonda, Mirzapur, Ghaziabad, Agra, and Basti districts. While the transfer of land in four divisions is complete, the process in Basti is still being finalised.

Each institution will serve as a centre of excellence for education, research, and innovation in traditional medicine. Students will receive training in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, and modern health sciences. The curriculum will also encourage research into Ayurvedic medicines, yoga therapy, and lifestyle-based treatments. The initiative is designed to create a skilled workforce for AYUSH-based healthcare services. By strengthening local education, the government hopes to boost healthcare infrastructure across the state. The project further positions Uttar Pradesh as a key hub for AYUSH education and wellness services.

The new colleges will provide specialised training in traditional and modern medicine. They are expected to expand healthcare access while supporting research in Ayurveda and related fields. Once operational, the institutions will help meet the growing demand for qualified AYUSH professionals in the region.
