Wolfsburg mandates digital health training for food workers under new rules

Wolfsburg has launched a mandatory digital health instruction under Germany's Infection Protection Act. The online course replaces older in-person sessions and targets workers in food handling and catering. Participants must complete it before starting jobs in kitchens or communal food services. The instruction covers infection risks and how to spot early signs of infectious diseases. It is required for anyone working with food, in restaurant kitchens, or in communal catering. Without a valid certificate—no older than three months—employees cannot begin their roles.

Access to the course is available through the city's website, rathausonline.wolfsburg.de, under the 'Services' and 'Infection Protection' sections. A BundID account is needed to log in. The fee for the digital instruction is €26, payable by credit card or PayPal. No official figures have been released on participation rates in Wolfsburg during the first three months. Comparisons with previous in-person sessions remain unavailable.

The digital format aims to simplify compliance with Section 43 of the Infection Protection Act. Workers must complete the instruction and obtain a certificate before handling food or starting catering jobs. The city provides the service online for convenience and efficiency.
