Ybbs River Exhibition Opens with Free Tours at Ulmerfeld Castle This Weekend

A new exhibition, The Ybbs as a Lifeline and Source of Strength: How Nature Shapes the Psyche, opens this weekend at Ulmerfeld Castle. The free event marks the start of the United States State Exhibition 2024, with guided tours running from 1 PM to 4 PM on the first day. Visitors can explore the natural beauty of Forstheide forest and the cultural landscape along the Ybbs River.

The exhibition officially launches on March 28, but a preview, A Taste of the State Exhibition, begins at Ulmerfeld Castle this Saturday. The castle has been adapted for the event, with new barrier-free access and improved year-round lighting. These upgrades are part of broader investments that Mayor Christian Haberhauer believes will keep benefiting the region beyond this year's exhibition season.

Ulmerfeld Castle's display complements the main state exhibition at Landesklinikum Mauer. Together, they form part of a larger programme that includes six satellite projects along the Moststraße. These sites feature the Roman quarry in St. Pantaleon, the Mostviertel pilgrimage church in Holzing, the early medieval settlement in Pötsch, the Moststraße power plant in Asten, the Neolithic settlement in Ernsthofen, and the Mostviertel bridge in Enns.

After the official opening, discounted combo tickets will be available. These include entry to the exhibition and a meal at a local Moststraße inn.

The exhibition highlights the Ybbs River's role in shaping both the landscape and local culture. With free entry on the first day and ongoing guided tours, organisers aim to attract visitors to Ulmerfeld Castle and its surrounding sites. The event also supports tourism and regional businesses through special ticket offers.
