Emergent BioSolutions has secured fresh orders for its smallpox vaccine, ACAM2000, from an international government partner. The latest deal, worth $6.6 million, was finalised on 25 March 2026. This follows a series of recent contracts aimed at strengthening biodefence capabilities worldwide.

The company's ACAM2000 vaccine has seen consistent or growing demand over the past five years. Major buyers include the U.S. government, which stocks the vaccine in its Strategic National Stockpile for smallpox and mpox preparedness. At least one international government partner has also placed repeat orders, reinforcing global reliance on the product.

Earlier, Emergent signed multi-year agreements with the Government of Canada. Valued at up to C$140 million, these deals focus on building infrastructure for biologic threat preparedness and response. In addition, the company landed a separate $54 million contract with the U.S. Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). This agreement involves delivering CNJ-016, another smallpox countermeasure, to bolster national emergency readiness.

The new $6.6 million order adds to Emergent's expanding portfolio of biodefence contracts. With ongoing demand from both U.S. and international partners, the company continues to play a key role in global smallpox preparedness. These agreements ensure the availability of critical vaccines and treatments for potential health emergencies.
